Some time ago I drove Rick Stein to a location just outside of Padstow in our old knackered red diesel Peugot estate wagon. We drove through the crowded streets of Padstow – the brief from the PR agency was to make the quintessentially Cornish coastline in winter look like East Coast of Australia to promote Ricks new venue in Mollymook.
Ten years later we are driving around Australia shooting the food we find, and on day eight of our twelve month road trip I shot the food at Bannisters at Mollymook – Rick Steins’ gaff just south of Sydney. From a ceviche of Ulladulla snapper from the local boats to a spicy green mango salad with crispy smoked Snowy Mountain trout – the food is both locally sourced and influenced by Rick’s extensive travels. Beautiful food and lovely people.
The following day Rupert the MD took time out of his busy schedule to show me a great spot for Abalone diving.
Beginning to remember why Australia is called the ‘Lucky Country’.
